an Australian architect, formerly based in Aotearoa New Zealand, and the 2024 F. Gordon Wilson Follow.
New Zealand born, and Ireland raised, I have spent a lot of my career working on architecture projects for public housing in Wellington and surrounding areas.
Through Paint the Town Blue, I’m exploring how we can unlock the hidden potential of public-housing backyards, using the Bluefield model of gentle infill to create new homes and shared spaces without losing the character of existing suburbs.
My background combines hands-on architectural practice and large-scale spatial research, allowing me to look at both the big picture and the details of how people live day to day. This project is about showing how thoughtful design can respond to changing tenant needs, support stronger communities, and provide practical, hopeful pathways for the future of housing in Aotearoa New Zealand
